It will never go back to the way it was, at least that is my take on the world. For the past few months, I've been struggling with the conclusions of two articles; one in Wired Magazine on the future of manufacturing world-wide and the other, an ULI article on the future of the American housing market. The world has changed in a very fundamental way. It has not been a subtle change by any stretch of the imagination nor has it occurred in the past few years with the deteriorating economic situation in the world. I would say it has been more like the "boiling frog". As the old adage goes, if you throw a frog in boiling water, it will jump out but if you throw it into cold water and heat the water, the frog will die.
It is my contention that there have been significant changes going on over the past ten years that kill the frog if we don't adjust. I'm not suggesting that we need to jump out of the pot but we do need to make some significant adjustments to accommodate the NEW world that we live in work in. I will further predict that the changes that we have seen up till now, socially, economically, technologically, environmentally, are not complete and we have not seen the future yet. We are at the doorstep of a major Paradigm Shift not only in California, this country but in the world we all live in. It is my goal to write about these changes and try to put them in some sort of perspective.
